4th Skin
A tattoo of Saint Petersburg — a city that is both birthplace and political symbol — becomes the site of a temporary intervention. Childhood photographs are layered over the ink, displacing the national marker with private memory.
The work explores the tension between personal history and the political meanings imposed on place. The body operates as both surface and archive — a site where identity, belonging and loss are negotiated simultaneously. The gesture of covering and re-contextualising the tattoo is not erasure but a temporary re-inscription: the image underneath remains.
